What Are Executive Functions?

Executive Function is an umbrella term used to describe eight mental processes that affect how people plan, organize, and follow through on tasks in a timely manner.

Neuroscience research suggests that executive function skills develop over time and they help us plan ahead, prioritize, stop and start activities, shift from one activity to another, and reflect on progress.

People with executive function challenges sometimes struggle at tasks that seem easy for others, jeopardizing school and work goals. At Strengths for Students our learners harness their strengths to overcome executive function challenges.
