Strengths for Students has strong roots in education and the psychology of flourishing. Judi has been a dynamic leader in the educational community of New York City for more than fifty years. She nurtured this love of learning and teaching in Aren from a young age. Together they launched Strengths for Students together in 2007.
This compelling mother-and-daughter team brings the best of their knowledge and experience to your family. They work with students independently, and frequently consult and collaborate to bring their shared expertise, from educational and psychological perspectives, to help their clients thrive.
Judith Levy Cohen
Judith Levy Cohen, M.Ed. has been a dynamic leader in the educational community of New York City for more than fifty years. Over forty of those years have been dedicated to her private practice as a Learning Disabilities Specialist. She provides academic and remedial support to students as well as instructional support to teachers as she leads members of a student’s support team.
Judi holds a Bachelors of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and Masters of Education from Temple University and a Postgraduate degree and a New York State License in Educational Supervision and Administration from Hunter College.
Aren Cohen
Aren R. Cohen, M.A.P.P. is an educational consultant and learning specialist who uses the philosophies of positive psychology and proven educational pedagogy to work with academically, motivationally and emotionally challenged students, teaching her students to use their strengths of character to build resilience and change academic challenges into educational triumphs.
Aren holds a Masters in Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Harvard University and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Aren is a native New Yorker and an alumna of both the Brearley School and The Midtown Ethical Culture School.
